grado believes that the details of life, often overlooked for being familiar, have the power to inspire our lifestyles. Musical instrument, in particular, can be a rich source of inspiration. Mia Yu, the designer behind the Pan Flute Sofa, embodies this philosophy by deriving playful ideas from daily life and transforming them into unique furniture designs. Taking inspiration from the shape of pan flute, an musical, Mia Yu designed the Pan Flute Sofa with down-lined cushions filled with two different materials. The seat, armrests, and backrest of the sofa are all covered with these down-lined cushions. Their parallel arrangement creates a wavy silhouette that adds visual interest and creates an expressive and dynamic look for the sofa.

Mia YU graduated from Zhejiang A&F University, majored in interior and furniture design. She joined grado R&D team in 2018 and has participated in several furniture design projects, including Pan Flute Sofa and Waffle Lounge Chair. ‘Design is born to connect people and space’ is her motto.
