CONCEPT
The designer emphasizes the integration of natural elements with human-centered design, embodying the harmony between humans and nature. Inspired by the mangosteen fruit, which is firm on the outside and soft on the inside, the sofa features an outwardly expanding backrest and ultra-soft seat cushions. This design offers both aesthetic beauty and comfort. The unique shape and bold color contrast inject a refreshing and vibrant touch to any living space, creating a visual focal point. With its distinctive form and thoughtful details, the Manggis Sofa is more than just furniture – it is a piece of art that enhances the connection between the natural world and the home environment.
Sisi Hong
Sisi Hong is an internationally trained industrial designer who graduated with the MID major from the Pratt Institute in New York. She has a passion for unusual and playful ideas, as well as grotesque yet reasonable ones. Sisi cares about tangible products close enough to people’s daily lives and strives to use her expertise as a designer to create better products for a better life.
Her odyssey from a rural area to an urban environment and then to the U.S. has endowed her design with a richer touch and elasticity.
