Designer Weng Xinyu designed this hippo pouf to express his love for hippos and his concern about the gradual loss of habitat of hippos due to drought. This is also in line with the concept that grado has always advocated: protecting wild animals and creating a harmonious ecology.
Isn’t it surprising that a chubby hippopotamus emerges from the floor? This is actually an unexpected encounter that is both sweet and sad. Earth’s inhabitants are suffering due to human actions, including hippopotamuses that are losing their habitat to drought.
With grado’s invitation and strong support, YUUE Design Studio is also spreading environmental awareness while providing interior creative solutions. With deep love for hippopotamuses, designer Weng Xinyu strives to capture its lifelike and lovable impression while carefully sculpting hippopotamuses. At the same time, it is an irresistible interior seat with rich decorative effects.
Designer
Weng XinyuWeng Xinyu was born in 1987 in Taizhou, China. He graduated from CUC in Beijing majoring in German Studies, after which he studied product design at Bauhaus University Weimar, Germany. After exhibiting his graduate projects works at various design fairs, he co-founded YUUE design studio to practice his design ideas. In 2022, Weng Xinyu became a German citizen.
