Inspired by Ding (an ancient Chinese cauldron, later becoming a symbol of royal power), Ding Lounge Chair presents a soft and full body to provide stylish and ergonomic seating. The four sturdy legs reserved a touch of ancient simplicity.

CONCEPT
Ding has witnessed millennia tracing back to 1,600 BC. Ding used to be defined as a symbol of royal power, but what the designer Mia YU sees is the wisdom and creativity in those days, from the ancient people, and the indisputable beauty and grace of this preserved bronze piece.
On her way of re-imagining the traditional, Mia believes it bears the same importance to reserve as to innovate. She tried to extract the defining features of Ding, and transform them into a piece for living space. Finally, she took inspiration from Ding’s form and color.
Mia Yu
Mia YU graduated from Zhejiang A&F University, majored in interior and furniture design. She joined grado R&D team in 2018 and has participated in several furniture design projects, including Salami Sofa and Sushi Lounge Chair. ‘Design is born to connect people and space’ is her motto.
